Ok.. really long time since my last post... I was on dryland travelling in Colorado for a series of family visits and weddings.  Tough on the body and mind for sure.  I did find out that my best buddy (sapphire flyer) is taking me to El Salvador (La Libertad area) for a quick surf trip to celebrate his new job and move to St. Kitz.  We both learned to surf together many moons ago at Ocean Beach (San Francisco)... it was a pretty hilarious adventure.  We both just moved back to SF and decided we wanted to surf.  We bought $80 cheapo wetsuits, used longboards and started to paddle out at Kelly's Cove.  About 20 mins later we were on our backs on the beach exhausted, never even making it out to the lineup.  We laughed our asses off and were hooked.  In the impending years, we have taken many a roadtrip to surf down the California coast in trucks, RV's, cars, you name it.  But always having a great time wherever we went.

The best thing about learning to surf together is that Sapphire is a goofy foot, while I am regular. That has made both of us very comfortable going backside as we regularly traded off finding lefts and rights.  I actually think I can noseride better backside from having to follow Free around.  Anyways, our lives have moved on since those easy days of surf trips and Pacificos.  I moved to Hawaii three years ago and he got married a little over a year ago, landed a sweet job as a sustainable development engineer.  Well his hard work paid off as he has now been offered a job as a development director for an international firm.  The bummer is he moves to St. Kitz in a couple of weeks.  So, El Salvador is our way of making a statement that we still travel for surf and as a getaway before his babies come which will limit the chances of another surf trip for at least a decade.

So... I'm off Sat for a week. Wish me luck!  Anyone got any advice on surf down that way?  We are staying at K59 at the Surfrider house.  I'll try to post some trip prep stuff here.
