Life is good
Swell was such a treat that I headed out this afternoon for a second session at point panic. Went out with Mark and taped up my Tak egg. Found a couple nice rides along the wall, same spot we went for Mark's b-day last sept. Fast little rides, small attempts at cover ups and smooth clean faces. It was fantastic. Out of the water around 5 ish when the after work crew showed up. Ahhhh, life is sooo good.

Sweetalicious!
Oh yeh... it feels like summer except brrr still cold in the water. Headed out pre-dawn to Publics to catch this south swell. Nice sets rolling through 2-3". Met up with Walker and Fanny and jumped in with the Tak egg. Got lazy and tried to paddle out over the ring of coral heads that protects Publics and put a major ding through the middle of my board... bummer. When will I learn my lesson. Solid glassy sets rolling through with a bit of offshore winds picking up around 8 to keep the waves open and groomed. Dropped a couple nice lefts rolling in through the rocks. Managed to snag a wide open right on a set wave that cleaned out the lineup. All good. Pacing myself as the swell may pick up later today into tomorrow from Cyclone Olaf. Get out and get some!

Out of season South
From Mr. Caldwell. Windy and raining at my house right now, but I hope to get a little surf in tomorrow afternoon and Monday. I seem to feel a bit of a tickle in my throat coming on ;)
OAHU-
300 PM HST SAT FEB 26 2005
Surf along north facing shores will be 6 to 10 feet through Sunday afternoon.
Surf along west facing shores will be 4 to 6 feet through Sunday afternoon.
Surf along east facing shores will be 5 to 7 feet through Sunday.
Surf along south facing shores will be rising to 4 to 6 feet by late Sunday.
Outlook through Friday Mar 4. A pair of northwest swells arriving Sunday night and Monday night will likely result in surf above the high surf advisory threshold along north and west facing shores. In addition, an out of season south swell will arrive Sunday and produce above normal surf heights along south facing shores through Wednesday.

Silky Smooth
Glassy this morning at DH with miniscule waves rolling through. Took out the Model T for a quick paddle and have some fun finding pockets of glide in the ankle biters. Saw pete and Val in the lineup. Just another beautiful day in paradise. Northshore still has juice flowing through. Word is a small south swell next Mon/Tue possibly. Happy Hump Day!

Daystar
Headed out at 6 a.m. yesterday with Mark and Paul. Looking for surf in da Country. Driving up with thought it was not going to be that big as the buoys were not showing much except for some very long period energy. When we arrived, it was pretty much closed out from Haleiwa to Leftovers. Avalanche looked pretty clean, but pretty big. Puena point was surfable, but lots of folks finding that enclave also. Saw a couple town ladies in the lot. We decided to move on and check out the other side. We drove through Mokuleia and found most everything closing out and messy. Finally we arrived at Daystar and saw clean rights and lefts breaking. Grabbed the boards (first day on my new 7'2") and took the elevator ride out on the rip. Pretty good sized sets came through and we rode the lefts into the channel. Paul was going deep and taking a couple of the rights which if were not careful left ou caught inside.. which didn't matter as a couple sneaker monster sets came through and cleaned out the entire lineup. I was washed through the inside jumble so badly I had to paddle the long way back to the channel. The left was a very steep jacky drop for a short bottom turn ride. But free falling down a vertical wall of water defnitely left the heart beating fast! Mark and Paul took some super wipeouts, but we all had our share. A pod of kneeboarders showed up and we found out that 60 of them were meeting up at Backyards from around the world to surf together.. pretty cool. This one guy is the U.S. champion and well, he ripped it up. All around great day to get out in some juice and break in the new board. No better way to spend a president's day monday.

Remebering Uncle Don
Woke up hungover after hanging out at a Japanese drinking establishment Friday night with Casey and Hampig. Tried making the drive out West, but found glassy clean conditions and no waves. Turned around and headed to da country. Nothing showing at Fuji's so headed out to Piddlies next to Chuns for a quick surf. Pretty decent pulse in the water with not too many folks out. It was definitely funky and chunky, but good times on the Munoz all around. Said my words for Uncle Don and the honu that popped up in the lineup. Sideshore breeze came up and killed things around 9:30 ish.

Driving Tips to Cabo
We never have to worry about this, but folks on the mainland actually have thousands of miles of driving to find surf. One trip I have always wanted to do is drive down Baja and then cross over to mainland Mex. Saw a posting on Swaylocks this morning about Driving Tips to Cabo. Made me think that someday I have to get over there and just do it. Windy again today in town. Over a week since I have been in the water. Starting to dry out.

Fix your virtual surfing
Howling winds in town today as I am sure the waves are getting shredded unless you head over to bowls area. Jeff says small bump showing in da country. Have not seen waves for three days and starting to get the shakes. If you are reading this post and using a Windows computer, you better check out the list of free apps to help you keep it running well. Don't let those spyware and virus critters get yah.
A couple of nice little pieces of software to help keep Windows running (Thanks Free!):
- CleanUp - CleanUp! is a powerful and easy-to-use applicationthat removes temporary files created while surfing the web, empties theRecycle Bin, deletes files from your temporary folders and more.
- HijackThis - HijackThis is a tool, that lists all installed browser add-on, buttons, startup items and allows you to inspect, and optionally remove selected items. The program can create a backup of your original settings and also ignore selected items. Additional features include a simple list of all startup items, default start page, online updates and more. Intended for advanced users.
- Winpatrol - Scotty the Windows Watch Dog sniffs out malicious "mysteryware" and parasites that may assault your computer. WinPatrol puts you back in control of your computer so you'll know what programs are and should be running at all times.
- AdAware - Ad-Aware is designed to provide advanced protection from known Data-mining, aggressive advertising, Parasites, Scumware, selected traditional Trojans, Dialers, Malware, Browser hijackers, and tracking components. With the release of Ad-Aware SE Personal edition, Lavasoft takes the fight against Spyware to the next level.
- Spybot Search and Destroy - Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware. But even if you don't see anything, you may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile of you that will be sold to advertisement companies. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm in trying to see if something snooped into your computer, too :)

Monday blues
Sort of a funky Monday morning. Rain, sun, and then more rain. Not sure what the conditions are like out there, heard the Northshore was still pretty small and junky. Good day get some work done around the office. Check out a video of Bruce Iron's winning wave at the Eddie.
